Yes, this is so important! Unfortunately, this happens with many other “UX skills” as well, in a way that oversimplifies what it is actually needed to be good at something. On the designer’s end, it’s important to have a growth mindset and be aware that there’s so much that we don’t know yet (and yes, that applies to those with years of experience too!). But there’s also a lot of work to be done by the companies when it comes to caring and supporting for work that should never be “skippable”. I think because things move so fast and UX is often seen as a way to “achieve business goals” it becomes even more demotivating and frustrating for a skilled designer who won’t be able to apply their skills or is blocked from making any sort of impact. But it’s true we all have a responsibility in this and we can’t stop advocating.
